The photos in the first group below where taken during the visits I made to the camp during the 1990's.  There was little done with the camp at that time.  It was still mostly foundations and unmarked sites.  There was no visitor's center at that time.  It seemed no one cared or wanted to remember what had happened there.

Now under full control of the National Park Service, Manzanar is being refurbished as a memorial and reminder for all.

 

 

The following photos were taken during my November 20, 2008 trip.

Many of them are similar to ones already posted.  The Park Service is doing a great job with the site.  There are plans in the works to rebuild many of the buildings.
